Osteria al Duca

L'Osteria al Duca is located in the heart of Verona, a few steps from the Scaliger Arches. It occupies the first and second floors of a 13th-century crenellated house that belonged to the Montecchi family and where Romeo, who along with Juliet, was the protagonist of the world's most famous love story, was supposedly born and lived. Initially used as a horse stable, these rooms were centuries ago transformed into an inn and a place of refreshment for travelers, where one could enjoy tasty tripe dishes or pastissada, accompanied by polenta and local wines. A tradition continued over the years, making it the oldest tavern in the city. A warm and welcoming place, furnished in a rustic style with exposed beams, which combines its fortunate location with good-quality cuisine and a wine cellar offering the best of Veronese wine production at extremely affordable prices. A true family-run tavern, of which few remain in Verona, where you can eat Veneto and particularly Veronese dishes: hand-pressed bigoli with donkey ragù, pappardelle with duck sauce, pasta and beans, various horse meat dishes, polenta with mushrooms and soppressa, sautéed snails, pastissada de caval, local cheeses, chocolate salami, tiramisu, Juliet's semifreddo.
