Porta Borsari

Porta Borsari, known in antiquity as Porta Iovia due to the presence of the nearby temple dedicated to Jupiter Lustralis, is one of the gates that opened along the Roman walls of Verona. The construction of the structure dates back to the second half of the 1st century BC, however, the part that remained intact dates back to the first half of the 1st century. Porta Borsari constituted the main entrance to the Roman city, connecting the important Via Postumia to the decumanus maximus.
